July 10, 2013 Day Three
Some equipment and materials arrived today in preparation for demolition and first floor structural reinforcing work. A porta potty, a work trailer and some lumber arrived and the place is starting to look like a construction site. Yesterday, Norah discovered that her decorated door was in the dumpster, spied through a hole in the dumpster just at kid height, contrary to Mom and Dad's explanation that Tim would be saving the doors for another girl just like her that needs a new door. After another bogus explanation we laid her displeasure to rest.
Selective demolition began inside as Tim has carefully removed the wood floor from the future foyer area in the hopes of reuse to patch the dining room and family room transition. It looks as though he was able to preserve the wood in good condition and now we can see the living room through the subfloor cracks from the basement. Electrical and plumbing has been capped and electrical fixtures removed and it looks like the first floor demo day will be tomorrow, 7/11/13.
We're still adjusting to camper life and working out a few kinks. The kids seem to be adjusting well but the jury is out on Mom and Dad. We have AC but no outlets and the lights are on battery until we resolve our converter issue. I never thought our tiny blue bathroom would seem luxurious. But then again, I never had to go in a camper.
