We've been fortunate so far with the weather. The boys on the framing crew might disagree, since it's been 100+ for over a week. But, there has been no rain allowing all of the framing, sheathing and roof sheathing to be put in place. And actually, one might argue that the heat slowed the crew down just enough to keep the shingles off the roof. So, with roof sheathing and a tarp over top, I did my last check before leaving for work just as the rain became steady and began increasing in intensity. I had 4 barrels or buckets in place and a text to Tim so he knew what to be prepared for. With the 2nd floor framing largely complete, the framers called it off for today as they were scheduled to move to the exterior for some siding work. Tim trudged out and spent most of the day chasing water into barrels to keep our 1962 first floor intact. He did a good job I have to say.Threats of severe t-storms persisted throughout the day with a few blackened skies and several torrential downpours. All in all the place stayed pretty dry.
Yesterday, the shingles, PT lumber and mahogany for the deck arrived as well as the vinyl siding. Today the sonotubes and the plumber were on site. Plumber has laid out the bathroom piping and plotted his route to the basement. Tim ordered the front and back entry doors. Shauna ordered the kid's bathroom vanity over the weekend and we even managed to pick some floor tile options.
Last of the nasty stuff moves on. |
Back door, with rain funnel protruding. Mental note: We have racoons and skunks here, better get that door closed tonight. |
Old roof still in place. |
