9/24/2013: Day 80 - Let There Be Light

On the eightieth day, the Lord said, let there be light.  The electricians got most of the light fixtures installed today. It makes life alot easier working at night without having to move the work lights around.  Porch lights and flood lights all give a different perspective of the house when darkness falls.

I got a lions share of the remaining door and window frames sanded in the evening.  All that remain are the office and Norah's bedroom on that front.  Plan is to finish those off and caulk the frames and have them ready for paint by the weekend.

Plumbers got the furnace hung in the attic today and began connections and ductwork.  Plumbing fixtures arrived on site today.  Tim finished most of the tile work, particularly at the vanity locations in preparation for the vanities and bath sink plumbing work.  Corner sink for the half bath arrived and seems to fit well.

Rounding the corner now!

9/11/2013 through 9/22/2013: The Push Is On

Sweat Equity

The week of 9/9/2013 brought the beginning of painting.  Long nights to get the bathrooms final painted and ready to receive floor tile, vanities and plumbing fixtures. The goal was met and final tile selections were made allowing Tim to begin tile the following week.

Shauna and I took the week off to put in our sweaty equity: Painting. Lots of it.  All told we are up to 25 gallons of paint in place.  The week of 9/16/2013: Upstairs walls and ceilings prepped and painted. Window prep, window & door trim prep ongoing, window and trim paint begins and first floor plaster patching largely completed. First floor ceilings are mostly painted at this time.  The two story foyer paint on walls and window was completed 9/22/13.  That was a monkey on the back as all had to be done from ladders in multiple arrangements. Tim began the field tile installation with the benefit of Shauna and I on site to decide the patterns.

This week (9/23/13) the plumber/mechanical and electrical subcontractors are scheduled to return for finish work. Vanities and plumbing fixtures to be installed, furnace should arrive for installation in attic as well. Electricians are slated to install the light fixtures and receptacles. And the biggest question mark is the new final electrical service. We're at the mercy of the utility company on this one, so let's keep our fingers crossed.  Also this week, we continue the paint work for walls and ceilings on first floor and windows, doors and trim throughout.
