August 12, 2013: Day 37 - Gettin Roughed Up
Plumbing & Electrical Rough In
Plumbing and electrical rough in work has continued this week. Rough electrical inspection occurred today and apparently there were no issues. Rough plumbing scheduled for day 38. The new tub and showers arrived on site and tubs are in place. Tim picked up the new front door and the framers returned. The new door was installed, and very unceremoniously replaced with the old one. This is to so the new door slab does not get damaged during the construction activities. This allowed the framers to complete the siding at the front porch. The rear deck framing was installed today.....A little crooked, but the clerk of the works is on that case.

August 6, 2013: Day 30 - E&P Rough Continues
Today was a big day for both plumbing and electrical. A good percentage of the second floor has wires run, receptacle and light back boxes were hung. More first floor investigation and clean up was done. Most of the rough plumbing for 2nd floor bathrooms is done and the infloor drain piping was done. Most importantly the kid's new vanity arrived. Tim was nice enough to Haul both vanities upstairs today. Sounds easy, but one weighed in at 500lbs and would guess the other was close to 700lbs. No small feat.

August 5, 2013: Day 29 - Plumbing & Electrical Rough Begins
Today brought mobilization for the plumbers and the electricians. Tim was here early prepping some areas for the plumber. Some drain piping was installed as well as some supply piping for the laundry. Plumber did final takeoffs and was off to make final supply runs. Electrician hung several boxes and even wired some of the master bedroom.
August 4, 2013: Day 28 - FreeBasing
After a busy weekend, I got to removing the old wall base in the family room. To keep costs down we were originally going to keep the old. Shauna and I agreed that that would be a mistake. So, after some family fun at the drive in on Friday and a train ride into Boston on Saturday, I got cracking Sunday morning. The old base was installed on the subfloor with the wood floors butted against. Of course there are nails at or even sometimes below the floor line. Made some good progress only to run into some wet plaster in the exterior corner of the kids old bedroom (the new office). I only punch a few holes in the plaster at this corner before giving up for the day. Did a little clean up outside to keep the nails in the grass at bay. Call it a mental health weekend I suppose.

July 31, 2013: Day 24 - Where's my Rocking Chair?
Day 24: The new front porch
Wednesday brought more exterior siding work. Most of the back elevation and the west side elevation were sided today. The water damaged sheathing and studs at the chimney turned out to be less damage than original anticipated which is good news. However, the mason was on site and we learned that the chimney is in rough shape being out of plumb and severely deteriorated in a few locations. Plan is to remove an additional three feet and replace and repoint the mortar as needed below. I suppose not so bad for a chimney that had no flashing for, oh, guessing 25 years.
The front porch framing began today. The porch floor framing is in and the porch roof framing is in progress. Lower carrying beam and posts should be going in today. Porch dimensions feel good and should be a nice place for a Limerita and a High Life.
